Altered Cigar Box

The inside of the box in the first picture is the original color of the entire box. This cigar box is being altered for a swap over at the Scrap Shack. The theme is steampunk. I went to a cigar shop and bought five empty cigar boxes. I liked all five so much that I wasn't really sure which one to pick for the swap, so I figured I would just decide later at home. I finally decided to go with the one that was all natural wood so I could coat it with Terra Cotta Walnut Stain. I love the way it turned out. I have many ideas in my head for the rest of the alteration process...so we'll see. To Be Continued...

Croms of the Dark Arts Forum at the Scrap Shack has challenged us to use alcohol inks. Well the only alcohol ink that I have is Copic Markers and I only have 11 colors and a blender. I used 5 of those colors on the hospital image that I printed from the internet. I used a Circle Nestabilities die to make the opening in the gray cardstock and the black outline to show the image. Then I stamped white cardstock several times with the awareness ribbon stamp, colored 4 of them with a purple Copic Marker and cut them out to place on this page. I then distressed the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink. This page depicts the horrible last three weeks of my dad's life that was spent in the hospital dying of Pancreatic Cancer.

1-on-1 ATC Swap - Travel

The theme for this ATC was travel and the destination should be obvious, so I decided to do a beach scene. I used sandpaper for the sand and cut out a tiny piece to make the "sandpile" near the shovel. The starfish is a rub-on and the "beach towel" was cut from patterned paper. I used a grey marker to make the birds and Stickles to make the cloud.

This background paper was leftover from one of my 2011 GASC classes. Since it already had the heart on it, I thought I should use it because we are supposed to REMEMBER to keep the Word of God in our hearts. I used the Nestabilities Blossom dies to make the journal mats. I used Platinum Stickles for the title. I added QQ Frosted Butterflies, lace and a few flowers with stems that were leftover from another 2011 GASC class.

For this page I used the soot stamped image that I did from a previous challenge in the Dark Arts Forum of the Scrap Shack and a free photo of flames from the internet. I used the Nestabilities Oval die to make the opening in the center of the flames. I used Spice Marmalade Distress Stickles to write the title. This page depicts burning desires that lead to death.

I made this Expandable Card Box at the very first Dymonz Stampers Club Workshop on Saturday! It was so easy and so much fun to make! I used the Butterfly Prints Stamp Set, Butterfly Punch and ink pads by Stampin' Up to make the dimensional butterflies on the back of the box. I made the closure with hidden Basic Grey Magnets. My daughter loved this box so I gave it to her. My husband asked me to make him a "more manly one" so he can put receipts in it. I'll post a picture of it when it's done.

I used the Nestabilities Scalloped Ovals and the Fancy Tags dies to make the journaling mats. I added Platinum Stickles to the centers of all the flowers on the 12x12 paper and to the title. I love this background paper and wanted to show as much of it as possible. I added a QQ Frosted Butterfly.

Croms over at the Dark Arts Forum of the Scrap Shack encouraged us to do something with a digital image of a dragon. Well, this is what I found that I could use in My Darkest Moments album. I colored this image with Martha Stewart Colored Pencils and added some silver metal corners- nothing fancy, but I enjoyed doing it. DANCIN' WITH THE DEVIL depicts my days of purposely "living in sin". Praise the Lord that those days are gone!!!

Toilet Tissue Roll Mini Album

I saw a You Tube video of someone creating a mini album out of toilet tissue rolls and thought "Oh, how cute. I can do this". I had some papers, tabs, etc. from a kit from s.e.i. leftover from one of my classes at the 2010 Great American Scrapbook Convention that I thought would be perfect for this project.

Here's my very first Toilet Tissue Roll Mini Album:

I was entered into a drawing because I submitted the cover of My Darkest Moments Album to the Dark Arts Forum at the SDSS and I WON!!! Yay me!!! The stamp set is From the Crypt by Stampin' Up, the key charm is from Stampin' Dymonz and the rest of the charms came all the way from Scotland from Helen. I'm looking forward to using these stamps and charms on the upcoming pages of my mini album for submission to the Dark Arts Forum!

Kayla's 6th Birthday Mini Album

This is the mini album that I made for my Granddaughter's 6th Birthday Celebration at Chuck E. Cheese's. It's a chipboard album bound together with duct tape, that seems to not work well if you leave it in a car all day while the weather outside is 100 degrees. Go figure! Well, anyway, it was lots of fun to create!

1-on-1 ATC Swap - Fireworks

The theme for this ATC was Fireworks and you had to use red, white and blue. I used TH Distress Inks to sponge the blue background, the edges, the small red fireworks and the large firework. The raised center was cut using the Nestabilities Crown Ovals die. I put stickles over the large firework and made the dots around the oval.

The first page of My Darkest Moments mini album depicts the times when my oldest son was incarcerated for marijuana charges. I hand painted the items on this page using acrylic paints, with the exception of the silver key of course. I also used a little bit of flower soft for the center of the leaf.

There's a Dark Arts Forum at Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack that challenged me to do something different in my "Artsy World". There have been some very dark moments in my life, that the Lord has surely seen me through, that I thought would be perfect for a mini album in the Dark Arts category. I know what I've come up with or will come up with is not exactly what the rest of the folks there will do but this is my version of it.

So, here's the cover for my Dark Arts Album:

I used Halloween stickers and hung a word (scary) charm from the tree. I added red stickles to the eyes of the birds, hanging bat and skull. I added black stickles around the moon. I hand wrote the title with a black Marvy marker. I made the 'reinforcements' around the holes with TH Black Soot Distress Ink. I used the same ink to distress all the edges of the cover, the left side where rings will go and the 'ground' area.

Prima Mini Album

Okay, so here is my very first mini album. I took a Prima Mini Album class at the Great American Scrapbook Convention. I started this album there and finished it at the Scrap Shack on July 2nd. Had a blast at the SS as always! Thank you Kathy and Stampin' Dymonz for everything!

Prima flowers, paper and embellishments were used throughout the album.

The lasercut title on the cover was given to each GASC Crop participant.

Crumpled pages from a novel and distressed/inked the edges/creases.

Used Liquid Pearls for borders.

Used I-rock rhinestones to accent frame on left.

Used I-rock stencil and rhinestones to make flourish on the right.

I will be adding photos from the GASC when I get them printed. I enjoyed making this album and have already planned on making another mini album soon for my granddaughter!

When I saw that the title for the letter H was Hands, I immediately thought of the song "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" so I did a Google search and found this awesome picture. In one of her Copic posts, Stampin' Dymonz said that "practice makes perfect" when using Copic markers. Well, I sure did do alot of 'practicing' with this digital image. I'm embarrased to say that this was my tenth attempt at keeping the color inside the lines and if you look closely you will see that I still messed up. I agree with SD and will continue practicing with Copic markers so one day I'll get the hang of it!

Matchbox Swap

These are for the first swap that I've participated in at the Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack. This was my very first attempt at making matchboxes. The boxes themselves were made by using the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Cricut Cartridge. I enjoyed making and decorating them. I do hope that my swap partner likes them and the goodies inside. She said that her favorite color is blue, so I put blue embellishments inside each box.

Honestly, after Day One I knew that I wouldn't be the winner of the Vagabond, BUT I was determined that I would complete the challenges and play along to the end! Well, I did it and I feel like a grand prize winner! I created tags, which I've never done before. I learned and applied new techniques. I used supplies that I never or hardly ever use. This challenge was an enlightening crafting experience! Thanks so much to Stampin' Dymonz for hosting such an exciting challenge!

Tag Brag Book

For the cover of this Tag Brag Book, I used Tim Holtz Grungeboard and Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabbers in gold, silver and copper. I had to watch a YouTube video to learn how to do the Acrylic Paint Resist Technique because I had never done that before. Not the greatest results, but I guess not too bad for my first time. I outlined the image and sentiment area with Sepia Copic Marker using a Nestabilities die. I added yellow Stickles and orange flower/circle rhinestones. I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge on my Gypsy and Cricut Create to cut out the cover and all the 'tag pages' of this Tag Brag Book.

Dimensional Tag

For this tag, I cut and adhered multi-colored paper to a chipboard tag. I inked the edges of the tag with milled lavender Tim Holt Distress Ink. Then I used a purple paper flower, cut from the Tim Holtz Distress Flower Die on the Sizzix BigKick, for the base of my dimensional flower. I added a pop dot, sticker flower, pop dot, round white button, pink flower button and then a purple flower button. I used a nest with eggs sticker and added spanish moss as my second dimensional element. Then I added the Bless Our Nest sticker. Instead of ribbon, I put spanish moss through the tag hole.

Distressed Tag

For this tag, I distressed white cardstock using three Tim Holtz Distress Inks - black soot, aged mahogany and milled lavender. I stamped the flag image with Memento black ink. I inked the "I 'heart'" part of the sentiment stamp with Stampin' Up real red and then the "AMERICA" part with SU bashful blue and then stamped the tag. Then I added the rhinestone stars and inked the edges of the tag with faded jeans Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I then adhered the paper tag to a chipboard tag. To meet the requirement of a unique piece of ribbon, I added red wire ribbon with pom poms.

Acetate Tag

For this tag, I used white cardstock and stamped a snowman image onto it using a glue pad. I used blue flocking on the snowman image. Then I stamped BRRR! four times onto the white cardstock and sprayed the white tag with Glimmer Mist. I then dry embossed recycled acetate, using an embossing folder and the Sizzix Boutique. I inked some of the embossed snowflakes on the acetate. I adhered the white tag to a chipboard tag and then the acetate on top. I put ribbon through the tag hole and then near the bottom. Then I added a silver dimensional snowflake sticker to the center of the ribbon.

Gift Card Holder Tag

For this tag, I sprayed a chipboard tag with Tim Holtz Wild Plum Color Wash and dried it with a heat gun. I cut cream cardstock to make the gift card pocket and white cardstock for the sentiment. Then I decorative punched all four corners of both papers. I stamped the sentiment and then sponged it and inked the edges with milled lavender Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I handmade the three flowers with white paper, purple and yellow chalk and pearl dots. I added a dragonfly and then some 'flight' detail with a white pen. I added a ribbon to the tag hole and placed an ACMoore gift card in the pocket.

Card Tag

For this tag, I cut, scored and folded sparkly green heavy cardstock because it matched wonderfully with my Tinkerbell image. I stamped the image on white cardstock and hand colored it with grey, yellow, light blue and light green Marvy markers. I used a shading technique on the wings of the image and put Diamond Stickles to the swirl coming from the wand. I adhered the image to a sanded piece of pink cardstock and then adhered it to the card tag. I then added the sentiment and ribbon.

Accordion Tag

For this tag, I made it into a 4-panel accordion by using a 12x12 single sheet of blue heavy cardstock. I cut it to tag height, scored and folded it. I cut a sheet of sandpaper using wavy decorative scissors. Then I scored and folded the sandpaper and attached it to the panels to look like sand for a continuous beach scene. I used my Gypsy (for the first time) to cut out the words, "Spring Break", on the Cricut Create. I inked all edges of the words with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I adhered flat and dimensional stickers and die cuts to create the beach scene. Then I added ribbon to each of the tag holes.

Steampunk Tag

I was really lost at how to create a 'Steampunk' tag. My first thought was that I needed to go to the store and buy stuff for this one. Then I read over the instructions again and these words jumped out at me - "Use your stash...don't run out to the LSS and purchase items...! Improvise. Be unique." So I went looking through all of my supplies and this is what I came up with. I found a paper pad that someone gave to me that I just knew I would never use and pulled out this sheet of paper. I figured since it had a keyhole on it already that it would work with the key embellishment that I had to use. Well, since one of the embellishments had to be metal, I used an old jewelry box key. I stamped a small heart image on black cardstock, heat embossed it with silver powder, cut it out by hand and adhered it to the black keyhole. My thought here was - key to my heart. Then I was on the hunt for a pointing hand. Didn't remember ever seeing such a thing in my supplies. Well in the school section of my scraprack, I found a pointing hand sticker - yes! Wasn't sure where to place it on the tag, but when I saw the letter B already on the paper, I put it next to the letter and thought "be that way" - seemed right to me. Okay now what? Continued looking, found the eyeglass stickers and thought "this might work". I put one pair on the tag and then decided that they needed to 'pop'. I surely couldn't peel them off without messing up the paper so I added pop-dots and put the other pair on top. Then I found the 3 black epoxy arrow stickers and thought "they'll have to do". I inked all edges of the tag and then sponged some places with black soot Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I adhered the paper tag to a chipboard tag. Then I added ribbon to the tag hole. Whew - I'm done! Not yet, I added Glossy Accent to the glass part of the eyeglasses sticker. It made them look more realistic. Now, I am done!

Masking Tag

For this tag, I made 2 bees and a bee hive die cut stickers with the Cricut Create from the Walk in My Garden cartridge using repositionable adhesive paper. Then I adhered the die cuts to cream cardstock and sprayed with two different colors of Glimmer Mist. I inked the lines of the bee hive with brown ink and peeled off the die cut stickers. Then I used brown marker to add detail to the bees. I sprayed it again with another Glimmer Mist. I then stamped 'Be Happy" onto the tag and inked all the edges of the tag using Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I added 2 dimensional flower stickers, a rub-on border near the bottom and 5 gems under that. Then I put Glossy Accents on the bees. I adhered the paper tag to a chipboard tag and added ribbon to the hole.

Nostalgic Tag

For this tag, I used gray cardstock as the base and then paper printed with writing for the paper tearing technique. I then used black soot Tim Holtz Distress Ink to ink all the edges of both papers. I added a dimensional pocket watch sticker, a silver eyelet for the hole, a black ribbon bow made with the Bow Easy, rub-on numbers, and a photo of my grandparents in 1943 (the year that they got married). I then adhered the paper tag to a chipboard tag and added ribbon to the hole.

I love, love, love Stickles and Tim Holtz Distress Ink and these are colors that I don't already have, except for the Diamond Stickles, but I use that ALOT!!! Box Card Swap

This is the box card I made for the actual swap. I do hope that the recipient likes it and can use it. These cards are fun and easy to make. When our kids go to birthday parties we always give money, so I'm going to make a few of these box cards for that purpose. I think I might even make a few for the holidays to put gift cards in for family members. Oh, the possibilities...!

Scrap Challenge - Buttons

The challenge for this layout was to use at least 30 buttons. I used 38 buttons on a dimensional heart frame and then cut out a pretty piece of wedding-themed paper for the center. This layout will be the title page of our Vow Renewal Ceremony Album. Slowly, but surely, this album will get done!

ABC Scripture Challenge - Forget

It is such a blessing to know that God will never forget me! Praise Him! For this layout, I used the Sizzix Boutique to emboss the journaling pieces. Then I sanded the embossed scroll work to give it more detail. I had tried this sanding technique before and didn't like it because I didn't like to 'make messes'. But now that I don't mind making a mess, I like it!

This past Saturday, at The Creator's Workshop, I had a wonderful time in the Word and lots of scrapbooking fun with all of my CFF's (Crafty Friends Forever). They surprised me with a gift of these beautiful flowers that really touched my heart! I am thankful for the flowers, but even more for their friendships. I thank the Lord for my friends - they are the best!

Mother's Day Card

One of my CFF's, Kathy, did a virtual class on making a box card for a card swap that she is hosting on the ACMoore Forum. After the class, I made this card for my Nana for Mother's Day. The green base of the flowers was made with the Fiskars flower punch that I won. I love it! Many thanks to Kathy for the lesson!

Dr. Seuss Layout

I had so much fun doing this layout! It was made because of a layout challenge on the Scrapbook.com forum. The challenge was to make a Dr. Seuss layout and use one of his famous quotes. This past Christmas, Ciara and Christian both wanted the book and plush of How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss so the photos were perfect for this challenge.

Weekend Getaway

Just had to blog a little about the wonderful scrapbooking weekender we just had! A few of us arrived at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Hagerstown, MD on Friday at 8:00am. We finished setting up by 9:45am and went to Cracker Barrel for brunch. The rest of the ladies arrived throughout the day - there were 11 of us CFF's (Crafty Friends Forever) altogether. Then on Friday evening we had dinner at Olive Garden. Saturday, we had dinner at the Fireside Restaurant at the hotel. Sunday, we had brunch at the Fireside Restaurant and in the evening we ate at Red Lobster. Monday, we were all treated to Pizza Hut pizzas for lunch by one of the CFF's. Then, after leaving the hotel at about 7pm, we had a late dinner at Cracker Barrel on the way home. There was LOTS of laughter, delicious food and scrapbooking throughout the weekend! I started and finished my daughter's 11th Birthday Luau Party album - 30 pages. YAY!!! These weekenders just seem to get better each time, not just because of what I do, but because of the fun and fellowship had by all! Thank you so much to all who attended and helped to make this an awesome weekend getaway!

A few weeks ago, I had lots of fun playing an ABC Game on the Fiskateers board. I knew there would be some winners from this game, but just knew that I wouldn't be one of them. Well, I was wrong! ABC Scripture Challenge - Easy

And as she attests on her blog, it certainly was not an easy time for her and her family, but because she knows Jesus she was able to continue on in the comfort of His love. Flowers

On Saturday, March 5th, I participated in a Virtual Crop hosted by Kathy, one of my dear CFF's (Crafty Friends Forever). It was my first VC and it was lots of fun! Kathy showed us how to make three different flowers. We were supposed to make five flowers after those three and post them by 10pm for a random chance to win a prize. These are the five I posted. The largest petals of the flower in the middle are not white, they are clear. I made it out of a transparency and colored the tips with a Copic Marker. That was a first for me and won't be the last. Well, I didn't win the prize, but I still feel like I won because I get to use these flowers that I made on my projects!

I truly delight in the Lord and His ways! For this layout, I distress inked the edges of the entire page. I enjoy using this technique and feel as though it 'completes' a project - you know, gives it that 'finished touch'.

Bookmark Swap - Spring

For this swap, we were to make 8 Spring-themed bookmarks. They couldn't have embellishments that would mar book pages, had to be 2"x6", and had to have a stamped image. Okay, so the first thing I think of when I hear Spring is flowers and I love hearts, so this stamp is my favorite flower stamp and I just had to use it! I love using the i-rock tool to adhere gems so that's what I did to the center of the flower. I used the Spellbinders die to make the orange 'book'. I love using that die to make little 'books'!

Scrap Challenge - Lovely Layout

This challenge was to make a 'Lovely Layout', so I used a photo from the Church Wedding Vow Renewal Ceremony that took place two years ago. This is only the second photo from that event that I have scrapped thus far. I used a sketch, tweeked it to my liking and this is what I came up with. I'm not a person that thinks highly of my own work, but I think this layout turned out 'lovely'.

1-on-1 ATC Swap - Valentine's Day

When I saw this stamp in the store, I thought that it would be great to use on an ATC because of the size. I had this one little circle mirror in my stash that I almost threw away but I kept thinking I should keep it. I'm glad I did because it came in handy for this ATC. Our requirements were to use red, white and glitter so for the glitter I added a bead of Stickles around the edge of the mirror.

When thinking of "what to do" for this New Beginnings ATC, I thought about babies. And of course what do babies do quite alot of ~ cry ~ so I couldn't resist using this crying baby sticker that I've probably had for about 8 years (yes I do mean years). I used Glossy Accent on the sticker to make it look like an epoxy sticker. That's a neat little trick that I learned just last year! Yes I'm a bit slow, I know.

Scrap Challenge - Let It Snow

As you can see from the date on the left page, it only took me one year to scrap these photos. But, at least they are finally on pages and in a scrapbook album. The Bible, the Word of God, is the guidebook for my life. For this layout, I used the Spellbinders Nestabilities Label Seven die to make the 'books'. I scored and inked the center of the 'pages' to give them a more realistic look ~ another neat little trick that I've learned. I get so tickled over the 'little things'.
